Fructose: a type of carbohydrate
Fruits do not have any minerals. Nor do they have proteins.
Fruits give energy i:e calories since it has carbohydrates. Fructose is a simple carbohydrate, which means it does not require enzyme to be digested and can easily be absorbed in our system.
Fructose , however, inspite of being simple, does not raise blood sugar levels immediately post its intake. This benefits a person suffering from pre-diabetes & diabetes.
Fruits only benefit if taken in controlled portion though. If they are consumed in portions of huge bowl, they increase the load of glucose in our body, resulting in high blood sugar level after 3 to 4 hours, since fructose takes time to get converted to glucose in our body by liver.
Also if this glucose that comes from fructose, is not utilised in our body, they will be further converted to fats to be stored, thus causing fat gain.
So now you guys, you would want to stay away from bowls & bowls of fruit.
Stick to seasonal fruits & small portion fruits and have it before lunch to avoid any adverse effect.
