  1. Plan from ahead. Make weekly plans involving your family members, so they don't throw tantrums on you. The plan should have 3 major meals & 2 minor meals.

  2. Stick to the plans by making sure you have shopped as per the plan. Make a shopping list based on your plan. Do not take all family members for shopping. Shop alone & shop things only and only those specified in your list. Stay away from Sale.

  3. Go for shopping immediately after a heavy meal. Do not go to shop when you are hungry, you might land up in buying unhealthy food items.

  4. Stock healthy foods at home like nuts, fruits, vegetables etc. Do not stock food items that are not healthy like, chips, namkeen, bakery products, cola drinks, sweetened drinks etc.

  5. Invest in good cooking utensils. If you are buying non stick pan with teflon coating, you can use it for not more than 6 months or if teflon coating is affected (this can be dangerous & is reason to cause cancer). You can buy stainless steel utensils that are made of surgical steel.

  6. Use calculated amounts of Oil & Sugar. Keep a check on usage, especially if you have cook/maid who cooks for you, since they use good amounts of fats for cooking.
